After the calm, the storm!!

After a wonderful Sunday, Monday was awful! To cut a very long story short, my husband lost his job (don't think it's sunk in yet) and I've found out that, following my hospital tests last week, I now need to be admitted for a 72 hour fast. 72 HOURS!!! The thought alone makes me feel ill. Well these things are sent to try us and everything happens for a reason, so they say. So, I've just got to believe everything will be okay.
At Papertake Weekly this week our challenge is In Stitches. Now, sewing of any kind is well out of my comfort zone so I'm afraid I 'cheated' and used rub ons and a pen! I have got one of those mini sewing machines but I swear it's got a mind of it's own! For my card I've used the gorgeous Kitty With Cake stamp and gingham paper from Wild Rose Studio. It also fits this week's Colour Combo theme of pink and brown at the One Stop Craft Challenge - Week 86

Lazy Day

Gorgeous weather again today and I've been to the park with hubby, daughter, son-in-law and little darlings. We sat on the grass and had a lovely picnic, Molly and Lucy played on the slides and swings and had a ride on the little train. Such a lovely, relaxing day that inspired me to make this card to enter into this week's Just Cute Bears Challenge which has an open theme. The stamp is a Hobby Art one called Lazy Day and the little bear just reminded me of the scene around me in the park today. A perfect day ..... I am not going to mention England's performance!

I'm not drunk - honest!

Didn't think I was going to get on here at all today! I went to the hospital for some tests yesterday, which involved being injected with something (they did tell me what, but I can't remember), and this morning I felt so yuck! Whatever it was has brought on the symptoms of why I was referred in the first place - blurred vision, feeling faint and slightly drunk. Have been having these episodes for over a year now but it looks as if I am now close to finding out exactly what it is - hooray! I started to feel a  bit better a couple of hours ago so retreated to my little room to make a card. I just love the LOTV challenges and don't want to miss a single one so this card is for that. Forgive me if it's mismatched and wonky but it's hard for me tell right now! Camera seems to be playing up too - or is it my eyes?!
This week is Challenge 56 and it's a sketch by Dawny.

Cleanest kitchen floor in the country?!

What gorgeous weather we're having! It was so nice to sit in the garden with a cuppa when I got home from work this evening. Rachel (my daughter) and my two little beauties, Molly and Lucy, came to visit and had fun in the sandpit and on the slide. Lucy was in and out of the kitchen (she's just mastered climbing on and off the step!) and was having a fine old time. Rachel and I were having a good natter until Molly came to tell us that Lucy was doing something 'naughty'. Have you ever tried cleaning up a bottle of Fairy Liquid that's been squeezed all over the kitchen floor?! Kids! xx
The Papertake Weekly challenge is a fab sketch by Dawny P and I've used this pretty 'Summer Milly' digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs for my DT card. The papers are from Pink Petticoat and I just love them. We're being sponsored by Digital Delights who have the most gorgeous images. The challenge over at Bee Crafty this week is Pink'n'Girly so I'm going to enter my card for that too.

Good news, nice things, a card and a few challenges!

Phew, it's been one of those weeks again! I'm glad to say that, although Mum is still under the weather, her consultant doesn't think it's anything to do with her heart. Still a few tests to do and things to consider but it doesn't look as if it's anything too serious - thank goodness! Chuffed to bits that I won the challenge over at Crafty Creations with my baby card. I thought the prize was one digi image but then found out it's four! I got to choose from so many fab designs at Meljen Designs. They've just this minute been emailed to me so I haven't had a chance to play with them yet- can't wait. My next bit of good news is I've found out that the cushion I designed and knitted is going to be in the next issue of Knit Today, out on July 13th! Sooo, excited!
For today's card I've used the Oscar with Plane digi stamp from the fab Squiggle Stamps that I only discovered yesterday. They've got the cutest little characters you've ever seen! I've teamed it with some papers from Pink Petticoat.

I've found five challenges to enter with this one - so here goes!
One Stop Challenge - Week 85 - One for the Boys
Fab'n'Funky - Challenge 28 - Just for Dad
Craftalicious - Challenge 2 - Monotone (with a touch of other colours)
Creative Inspirations - Challenge 65 - One for the Boys
Incy Wincy - Challenge 45 - One for the Guys

Papertake Weekly Challenge - my first DT card!!

Ooh, am I excited or what?! My first DT card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge is out there for all to see. I was soooo nervous making it and was really stressing about my mum at the time (see the consultant tomorrow) so felt a bit wobbly and lacking in creativity. But hey, we all have days like that don't we? This week's sponsor is Di's Digital Downloads and the theme is Ice Cream Colours. I just had to do my favourite Neopolitan!

Now, as to my 6 fibs and 1 truth .... I have two left feet so could never win any sort of dancing medal. I'm the world's worst navigator and get lost even with a Sat Nav (my family and friends think it's hilarious), I couldn't ride a bike to save my life and although I know a smattering of a few languages I certainly couldn't hold a conversation. I should be so lucky to have been on two round the world trips or have a hubby 15 years younger than me ;o) No, the truth is my father was greek and I lived in Athens when I was a child. I did speak fluent greek but can't speak now although I still understand it -weird, I know. xx

Something nice on a not so sunny Sunday!

With all the upset yesterday I'd completely forgotten to say how thrilled I was to make the Top 3 in the LOTV challenge last week! It was the first time I'd entered too! This week they've got a fab prize up for grabs from Wild Orchid Crafts and, of course, I've just got to have another go! For today's card I've used the female version of the gorgeous LOTV stamp I used last week and I've teamed it with my usual Wild Rose Papers. Four challenges to enter with this one:
LOTV Challenge 55 - Sketch by Dawny P
Crafty Creations Challenge 71 - Child's Play
The Creative Cottage Challenge 14 - Pink
Creative Inspirations Challenge 64 - Babies

What a week!

This week has been really busy at work, as I knew it would be, and then yesterday my poor Mum was taken ill. She had a heart operation back in February and she seemed to be doing really well but felt very poorly yesterday. Her GP has adjusted her medication until Wednesday, when she is due to see her cardiac consultant. I'm so worried about her. I need to ask my boss if I can have the afternoon off to take her to the hospital and I'm stressing about that too! I know he won't say no but I just hate asking. Anyway, she was feeling a bit better this morning and told me to stay at home, so I did what I always do when I need to calm down and get my thoughts in order - retreated to my craft room. It never ceases to amaze me how making a card or two can help me cope with whatever life throws my way. Made  a couple of cards for a commission for QCME and will be able to show them on here when the magazine comes out.

Another fab surprise!

Got in from work yesterday feeling fed up and miserable and thought I'd check my little blog to cheer myself up. Then I checked my emails and was cheered up no end! I've only been asked by Dawny P  if I want to be a DT member for the Papertake Weekly Challenge!! How fab is that?! Feel really excited but nervous too. Have had a big smile all day today and still pinching myself!

A cup of coffee, a card and a calm down!

Now, when the phone rings at 4 o'clock in the morning it can only mean one of two things; someone needs a taxi and they've phoned your number by mistake or someone in your family needs you urgently! Unfortunately this morning it was the latter. My daughter, Rachel, was panic stricken as her husband was at work in Manchester and little Lucy had woken up screaming with a raging temperature and spots/rash all over her. Nanny and Granddad's turn to panic now as at that time in the morning everything always seems so much worse doesn't it? A bleary eyed Molly was brought round to our house while Rachel took Lucy to hospital and Kev raced back from Manchester. Thankfully it turned out to be something viral and they just need to keep her temperature down. So, with the panic over, nanny does what she always does when she needs to 'chill' - has a cup of coffee and makes a card! I've made this one with two challenges in mind:
Just Cute Bears Challenge 20- Father's Day
Fab 'n' Funky Challenge 26 - Piece that Paper

I've used one of my Hobby Art stamps that I've had for ages but only used once and some gingham paper from a Forever Friends paper pad. Brown and blue is one of my favourite colour combos for masculine cards. Please let me know what you think - all comments are very appreciated x

Sketch Saturday - Challenge 106

I really should be doing some washing and ironing but couldn't resist this week's challenge at Sketch Saturday, so here's my entry. I've used one of my LOTV stamps and Wild Rose Studio papers - I'm such a creature of habit! Now I really am going to get the ironing board out. Whether I plug the iron in is another matter as the garden is calling me... maybe just have a cuppa outside first!

A lovely surprise!

Well, I'm chuffed to bits this morning as I found out I made the Top 5 in the Allsorts Challenge last week! As anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm not very confident where my card making skills are concerned so this has given me a real boost.

Have had a lovely week off work and don't really feel like going back at all! Planned to go to the hairdresser's today to get a cut and colour but left it too late to make an appointment, so I'll have to go back to school with grey roots - not a good look, lol! On a happier note, my 'lost' flowers turned up in the post this morning and they're very pretty. Can't wait to use them.

Today's card is a bit different for me as black and red is not usually a colour combination I use. I was inspired by a couple of challenges, with gorgeous DT creations, so decided to have a go. The challenges are at Crafty Catz Challenge 35 - Colour combo red and black, and Crafty Creations Challenge 70 - Black, White and a Splash of Red.

Just Cute Bears and Crafty Sentiments Challenges

I wish I'd started this blogging malarky years ago as I'm really enjoying it. I've 'met' some lovely people over the last few weeks and am so grateful for all the wonderful cards being shared - so inspiring! Thank you ladies, I love looking at your blogs.

I thought I'd make another card with my Millie stamp and then I saw Challenge 19 over at Just Cute Bears Challenge Blog which is for a Thank You card. So, here she is! Thanks to Lisa at Crafty Sentiments for telling me about their challenge this week which is to use punches. This is the first time I've used this border punch and I've had it for ages (as you do!)

Half term therapy!

What a treat being able to make cards during the week! The next two weeks are going to be really busy at school so while it's half-term I can indulge in a little therapy (and I haven't spent any more money!!) I discovered the Allsorts Challenge Blog yesterday and this week it's Challenge 54- Black, White and 1 other. The DT creations are stunning and inspired me to have a go. The One Stop Craft Challenge  this week is 'Swirls and Pearls' (fab DT cards again) and I think this card fits that theme too. Here's hoping! I've used one of my favourite Rubber Romance stamps and Wild Rose Studio  paper printed from the Spring Collection cd for her dress. Wish I could wear a dress like this!
